Connect my smart TV or streaming device to the UIndy network
Specific instructions for finding that MAC address and registering these types of devices are provided below.
To find the Mac address for your smart TV, go to Google and type in "How do I find the Mac address on my "make/model" smart TV.
Most smart TVs MAC addresses can be found in the Settings menu. Once you have obtained your console's MAC address you will need to register it on to the UIndyIoT Network by following the directions listed in Manage personal devices on the UIndy and UIndyIoT networks.
Find the Mac address for your Amazon Fire TV Stick
- Connect your Amazon Fire TV stick into the TV.
These instructions presume you have already set up your Amazon Fire TV Stick in another location. If you have not, please follow Amazon's instructions at https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=GAYPF3MP4SNBJF9J.
- On your Amazon Fire TV Stick navigate to the system's Settings using the provided remote.
- Select My Fire TV.

- Select About.
- Select Network.
- The MAC address can be found as the last item listed on the right. Make note the MAC address and save it for later.

- Disconnect and unplug the Amazon Fire TV Stick from the TV and wall outlet.
- Once you have obtained your console's MAC address you will need to register it on to the UIndyIoT Network by following the directions listed in Manage personal devices on the UIndy and UIndyIoT networks.
Find the Mac address for your Apple TV
- Connect your Apple TV to your TV with an HDMI cable.
These instructions presume you have already set up your Apple TV in another location. If you have not, please follow Apple's instructions at https://support.apple.com/guide/tv/set-up-apple-tv-atvb73e46488/tvos. In step 4 of Apple's instructions, choose to set up your device manually and make note of the Wi-Fi or Ethernet Address shown on screen. Then, proceed to step 6 of the instructions below.
- Using your Apple TV remote, navigate to the Settings app.
- Click Network.
- Make note of the MAC address (e.g. xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx) shown on screen. It will be listed as the Wi-Fi Address (for wireless connection) or Ethernet Address (for wired connection).
- Once you have obtained your console's MAC address you will need to register it on to the UIndyIoT Network by following the directions listed in Manage personal devices on the UIndy and UIndyIoT networks.
Find the Mac address on your Roku
- Connect your Roku to your TV with an HDMI cable.
These instructions presume you have already set up your Roku in another location. If you have not, please follow Roku's instructions at https://support.roku.com/article/208754888-how-to-set-up-your-roku-streaming-player-any-model. Then, proceed to instructions below.
- On the Let's get started screen, use the Roku remote chose a language.
- You will be redirected to the Choose your network screen, navigate to the Private network option.
- Make note of the wireless MAC address (e.g. xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx) shown on screen.
- Once you have obtained your console's MAC address you will need to register it on to the UIndyIoT Network by following the directions listed in Manage personal devices on the UIndy and UIndyIoT networks.
The following devices are not supported on the UIndy networks: wireless printers, personal routers, access points, and Google Chromecast. Google Chromecast devices are not recommended due to their need for multicast support which is not compatible with UIndy network configurations.
