Request or remove access to Banner Admin Pages or UIndy Self-Service

The Banner system is comprised of two applications: UIndy Self-Service and Banner Admin Pages.

Most students and employees use UIndy Self-Service for activities like registration, looking up course schedules, and submitting timesheets. UIndy account-holders do not need to be granted special access for most applicable areas of UIndy Self-Service. Some individuals, however, need access to areas of Self-Service that will need to be requested through the method described below (e.g. Budget, Purchase Requisitions, Class Rosters to courses not taught). 

Banner Admin Pages is used by some office personnel for day-to-day administrative record-keeping functions. Access to Banner Admin Pages must be requested through the method described below. Basic training by a supervisor or as arranged by the appropriate Data Steward or Data Manager is required.

Complete the Banner Authorization Form from My UIndy

To comply with auditor requirements, supervisors must approve access for their employee directly. 

The "New Banner Access Request" ticket type is used to request access for a new user or update current account permissions.

  1. Navigate to https://my.uindy.edu/banner-cognos/
  2. Click Banner Authorization Form.

You will be directed to an IT Help Desk ticket. The Request Type is Banner & Cognos > New Banner Access Request. 

Please complete all required fields noted with an asterisk (*). 

Prior to the requested access being granted, approval from the employee's supervisor and the data manager for each Access Requested area must be recorded in the ticket.

Helpful reminders within this ticket:

  • If access to Social Security numbers is also required, create a separate Social Security Number Access ticket.
  • If additional access to an existing account is needed, list the security class or screens in the Additional Access field. Approval from the impacted access area is still required.

Remove Banner access when an employee leaves or changes position

It's important that an employee's data access match only their current job responsibilities and needs. 

When an employee leaves a position for which they needed elevated Banner Admin Pages or Self-Service access, please request for their access to be removed via the Banner & Cognos > Remove Banner Access Request ticket type in the ticketing system.
