Export Midterm or Final Grades from the Brightspace Gradebook to Banner

Helpful Information Before You Begin

Grades Tool
  1. Within Brightspace, navigate to your course Grades button tool.

Set your Grade Scheme

You must set your Brightspace course Grades tool to a letter grade scheme.

  1. Click the Schemes tab. On the new page you can create or choose from existing Grade Scheme.
  2. Select the Enter Grades button.

Select Sections & Export
  1. The View By option allows you to filter your grade roster by Users or Sections
  2. If you choose view by sections, you may select a particular section by selecting your preference from the drop-down menu.
  3. Click the Apply button. 
  4. Click the Export to Banner button.

Grade Details
  1. From the dropdown menu at Grade Type select Midterm or Final Grade.
  2. Check the box by the student’s username. You may select multiple students. 
  3. The Current Final Grade will have automatically populated in this column. If you agree with the grade, skip to step 12.
  4. If you would like to override a Current Final Grade, manually enter grade in the Override Grade box. See blue box below about override grades.
  5. Click the Export button.

Export Detail Summary
  1. You will promptly see the Export Details box depicted below. A spinning/processing wheel will indicate the requested task is being processed. Let the task complete.

Export Post Process Summary

Once the Export Details window has processed and closed, the following details will be displayed:

  1. Status = Success
  2. Result = Accepted by SIS
  3. History = Successfully processed grades for Student ID A#

Confirm Grades in Self-Service

Remember to double check (confirm) your final grades have correctly exported from Brightspace in to Self-Service.

  1. Navigate to https://banner.uindy.edu/FacultySelfService/ssb/gradeEntry.
  2. Select either the Midterm Grades or Final Grades tab.
  3. Select a course from the list of gradable courses.
  1. The lower panel will now display the students for your selected course.
View Export History

Confirm grades have been correctly exported by: 

  1. Clicking the View All Exports breadcrumb near the top your screen.
  2. You will see a list of all export sessions. Select the one you’d like to see in detail.
  3. A Success or Error notice for the respective Export Session will appear here.
